BRAND NEW MODEL HOME IS MOVE IN READY!

Diana Nellans

This beautiful rustic home can be purchased furnished or unfurnished. The rich vintage mixed hardwood floors look warm and welcoming.  It is so amazing to think that these floors were once part of a 100 year old barn and have been reclaimed and re-purposed to give character and charm to this unique new home.  The mix of hardwoods include cherry, maple, oak, poplar, chestnut, hickory and beech. These woods were harvested  from trees that surrounded the land on which the barn was built all those years ago.

The floors were professionally finished with a very light sanding so that all of the original character such as rotary saw marks still remain.  Then a two stage oil finish was given to the floors to bring out the color and protect the finish.

The floors provided our decorator with the color pallet for the entire home.  Kitchen cabinets have been stained with a custom mixed gray stain to pick up the gray tones in the floor.  Walls are also a soft gray color that makes a perfect backdrop for paintings.  Each detail in the home has been carefully selected to give an appearance of sophistication yet still retain the character and charm that is so special in a rustic mountain residence.  We welcome you to come visit us in Stonefly and take a look at this spectacular home.

Vacation home sales hit record highs

Affluent households have greatly benefited from strong growth in the stock market in recent years, and the steady rise in home prices has likely given them reassurance that real estate remains an attractive long-term investment. Furthermore, last year's impressive increase also reflects long-term growth in the numbers of baby boomers moving closer to retirement and buying second homes to convert into their primary home in a few years. Vacation buyers plan to use their property for vacations or as a family retreat while others plan to convert their vacation home into their primary residence in the future.

COLORS OF AUTUMN

Whiteside Moutain in Stonefly

Whiteside Moutain in Stonefly

Every year, mother nature puts on a spectacular show in Stonefly and the area surrounding Cashiers, North Carolina. This is attributed to mild autumn days coupled with cool, crisp, but not freezing evenings. During September, October and November, the once green leaves of spring and summer alter their appearance and Whiteside Mountain becomes a crazy quilt of brilliant yellow, glowing orange, fiery red, and rich brown.

As autumn approaches, the amount of available sunlight decreases. This signals the tree that winter is approaching and that it is time to begin the process of shedding its leaves. As a result, the production of chlorophyll ceases and breaks down. Because of this, the green color of the leaf disappears allowing the other pigments to show off their hues.

Each species of tree and shrub has its own unique hues and the amount of color can vary from year to year depending upon the temperature, rainfall, and wind in any season.  But it always promises to be something, once seen, is never forgotten and is a special bonus for those who call Stonefly home.
